Liminal photography
Liminal photography is kind of niche underground genre that appeals to me, and when I think about it, it actually reminds me of “Lost Corners“, the art series consisting of charcoal paintings which I created in 2011.
Therefore I was quite happy to participate in the online exhibition “Liminal Photography”, organised by Lumineers gallery on Tezos — a community event celebrating this genre and its intersectional possibilities.
My contribution consists of six photographs, each day I published (mint) one photo as an Open Edition : https://objkt.com/@rudolfboogerman
Liminal photography doesn’t require a high end camera, it is more about atmosphere than technical quality, therefore I used a consumer camera, the Sony HX400v 20mp, which is perfect for this sort of projects.
About Liminal photography
Liminal photography is an artistic exploration of transitions and uncertainties. It captures moments that blur the lines between clarity and ambiguity, often evoking feelings of nostalgia or profound existential questions. The images typically focus on forlorn or surreal architectural spaces, usually devoid of people, creating an eerie and contemplative atmosphere. The word liminal (Latin līmen) means “on the treshhold” which refers to the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of a rite of passage, where a person is on the threshold of something new.
